American Vacation: 12,000 Miles Into the Wild West

Join local Illinois author, Raluca Barbu, to discuss her newly published book, "American Vacation: 12,000 Miles into the Wild West." Paying homage to the great American outdoors, this book tells the story of a writer from an ex-communist country who experienced the great outdoors of the American West; traveling 12,000 miles in 45 adays; across 19 states; visiting 35 national, state, and tribal parks; and hiking170 miles through breath-taking natural landmarks. Barbu will share her travel adventures and writing experiences, read from her book, answer questions, and screen a 15-minute presentation of photos taken during her trip. At the end of the program, she'll host a quiz. The winner will win a signed copy of Barbu's book. *Registration required
