Join Jevoid Simmons as he discusses his family's own experience with the Great Migration, a time in history that led to the mass migration of Black folks from southern states to the north. Jevoid  wrote and illustrated his first book, "Up From Down Home, The Journey North," which tells of his family's journey from Alabama to Iowa. Making art has been a lifelong love of Jevoid's, and his work has been exhibited in many places, including the Art Institute of Chicago.
