George Eastman, the founder of Kodak, patented his first box camera in September of 1888, the first point and shoot camera, making snapshot photography possible, affordable and easy to use. But Eastman was more than Kodak, he was also a philanthropist who donated money to Booker T Washington’s Tuskegee Institute and Hampton Institute, established dental clinics for indigent families, founded a hospital, school of music, ballet company and opera company. Eastman believed “Your reputation is made by how you improve other people’s lives.” *Register
