Program Description

Event Details

Born in 1799, Mary Anning was an English fossil collector, dealer and paleontologist who became internationally known for the discoveries she made in Jurassic marine fossil beds in the cliffs along the English Channel. Although unacknowledged and uncredited by the scientific community in her own time, her findings contributed to changes in scientific thinking about prehistoric life and the history of the Earth. Join Anglophile and former UK resident Claire Evans for a lively talk on “the greatest fossil hunter the world has ever known” and the UNESCO World Heritage site she was lucky enough to call home. *Registration required
